Aboriginal, Indigenous and Native refers to Aboriginal people in Canada. Indian is seldom used this context given the number of Indian Canadians(immigrants and descendants from India). First Nations generally refers to an Aboriginal group within Canada. Depending on the time period a number of terms might be applicable. If looking for contemporary information outside of academic sources consulting a journalist style guide would help.and move on is the way
If looking for information on a particular aboriginal group, try native nation names. Example, Inuit would yield results that community. Please consult contemporary sources for names. Example, Eskimo can be found in historic literature, but has been eclipsed by Inuit.
Finally, some indexes intermingle natives of both Canada and the United States under one control term (typically Native American). Some indexes take Native American as a representation of all indigenous within the Western Hemisphere. It might be best to add Canada to your search to separate from American results. The reversal, removing United States from search terms could also help in narrowing down information.
